PSA 104 NEIGHBORHOOD PUBLIC SAFETY MEETING
Tuesday February 12th, 2012
Sherwood Recreation Center – 10th and G Sts NE (640 10th Street, NE)
7:00 P.M. – 8:10 P.M.
Special Topic: ABC Investigations in our Neighborhood
This month we will be joined by ABC investigators and General Counsel
from ABRA who will be responding to concerns and complaints about
establishments, particularly along H Street, N.E. As always, members of
MPD who patrol our neighborhood will be in attendance, and there will be
time for you to bring up new concerns and hot spots.
Learn about the changes in ABC law and how they impact you and your
neighbors. Learn about Cooperative Agreements (also known as Voluntary
Agreements). How many noise complaints are too many? Do fines on
establishments work? Are police details for one establishment effective
when you have twenty ABC establishments close by? Are establishments
responsible for the behavior of patrons when they exit the venue? What
happens when patrons leave the establishment to consume alcohol from a
private collection and return to the establishment? Who is responsible?
What is over concentration of a block with ABC licenses? Can a grocery
store or restaurant survive without an ABC license in DC? All this and
more, join us tonight for an in dept discussion about ABC law.
On another front, prostitution along K Street, Parker and 3rd Street,
NE. Residents feel under sieged. Today a resident’s vehicle was
vandalized, an arrest was made. Is this the end of the violence or will
the person come back once they are released? What can MPD do about
this? Have we given our police the tools they need to keep the
residents, businesses and police safe?
Come join us for an open discussion on crime in our neighborhood,
including recent arrests, crime trends, and what you can do to prevent
and report crimes. PSA meetings are an opportunity for community members
to meet with MPD and other neighbors and businesses to share their
concerns for public safety in our neighborhood. Note: PSA 104 was
previously PSA 102.
This meeting will end at 8:10 P.M.
